WHERE TO START ?

Counselling for some can be daunting, not knowing where to start. I offer a FREE 20 minute phone call where I will talk with you about how counselling could help and what to expect. I will answer any questions you have and from this I hope it helps you feel more comfortable coming along for your first session.

The session gives you an opportunity to decide if counselling is the right approach, you don’t have to decide there and then, take the time to process the session, and decide if counselling with me is the way forward. Research indicates that it is the relationship between the therapist and the client/patient which is the defining factor in the treatment. Choosing the right therapist for you is an important part to the start of your counselling journey and it is important to me I can offer you the service you deserve.

Counselling for me is about providing a safe space for my clients to feel listened to and held during some painful times. Counselling can be short term or long term. I don’t try and make my clients fit into a theory or model. We work together to find a way forward. I have experienced therapy myself and this gave me the insight to know how it feels to be the ‘client’. I believe the relationship is the foundation to the work in the room, and this is why I encourage clients to have a first session and reflect on how they feel before making a decision about going forward.
