My Approach

Specialist EMDR Therapist, Couples Counsellor & Family Mediator helping you navigate life’s challenges with confidence.

As an Integrative Counsellor, EMDR Therapist, Couples Counsellor, and Family Mediator, I offer a compassionate, evidence-based approach tailored to your individual needs. Whether you’re seeking support as an individual, couple, or family, I provide a safe, supportive space where meaningful change and healing can take place.

Rather than relying on a single therapeutic model, I integrate a range of approaches, including Humanistic, Person-Centred, Systemic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing). This allows me to adapt each session to what will be most effective for you, whether you’re looking for short-term support or longer-term therapy.

Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all, and neither is my approach. As we work together, I may draw from different therapeutic methods depending on your goals, experiences, and what feels most helpful at each stage of your journey. If you’re unfamiliar with the different approaches, I’ll always explain them clearly so you feel informed and comfortable throughout the process.

Above all, I believe the foundation of successful therapy is the relationship between therapist and client. A belief that is strongly supported by research. Feeling understood, accepted, and able to trust your therapist is essential, and I am committed to creating a warm, non-judgemental environment where you can feel safe to explore, heal, and grow.

Training & Experience

With over 25 years of experience, I have had the privilege of supporting children, young people, adults, couples, and families through life’s challenges. My aim is to provide a safe, compassionate, and non-judgemental space where you feel heard, understood, and supported to make lasting, positive change.

My counselling journey began with Relate, where I spent more than two years working with individuals and couples experiencing relationship and personal difficulties. The specialist training and supervision I received there provided a strong foundation for my career and a lasting passion for helping people strengthen relationships and improve emotional wellbeing.

I went on to complete my Diploma in Integrative Counselling through the NHS and have since worked across a wide range of settings, including GP surgeries, schools, domestic abuse refuges, community counselling services, and private practice. These experiences have given me the opportunity to work with people from many different backgrounds, each with their own unique experiences and goals.

I became an Accredited Counsellor and Qualified supervisor.  I have expanded my skills by qualifying as an EMDR Therapist and Accredited Family Mediator. This enables me to offer specialist support for trauma, relationship challenges, and family conflict. Helping clients navigate the separation of finances and co-parenting. While also mentoring and supporting other counselling professionals.

My Practice

I divide my time between private practice, family mediation, and leading Schools Counselling Ltd, where I manage counsellors providing therapeutic support within educational settings.

In my private practice, I work with individuals, couples, and families, offering a warm, confidential space where clients can explore life’s challenges, strengthen relationships, and move towards positive, lasting change. I also provide clinical supervision for qualified counsellors and trainee therapists, supporting them in their professional practice and development.

As a qualified Family Mediator, I help families and separating couples navigate difficult conversations with compassion and impartiality. My aim is to support constructive communication, reduce conflict, and help families reach practical, child-focused agreements wherever possible.

As the founder of Schools Counselling Ltd, I work closely with schools to deliver high-quality counselling services for children and young people. This role enables me to support not only students but also parents, carers, and school staff, helping to create healthier, more resilient school communities.

I remain committed to providing the highest standard of care through ongoing professional development, regular clinical supervision, and specialist training. By continually developing my knowledge and skills, I ensure that my clients receive therapy that is current, ethical, and evidence-based
