My Counselling Approach

I am located near Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells, Paddock Wood, Maidstone, Kent

I am an Integrated Counsellor and use different methods in my practice, Humanistic, Person Centred, Systemic and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). Providing short and long term therapy, I work with my clients to select the best approach that suits their needs.
My approach is flexible and can vary throughout the sessions, it can be confusing when hearing terminology in relation to different counselling approaches, I am able to explain in more detail the different methodology’s if you feel the necessity.

I believe (and research confirms) the most important part of counselling is the relationship between the therapist and the client. As a client it is important for you to feel you can work with your therapist.

My Training & Experience

My Counselling experience started with Relate where I worked for over 2 years counselling couples and individuals. Relate offer very good support and training to their staff, this gave me the experience and knowledge to move forward into other areas of counselling. I went on to complete my counselling diploma through the NHS and worked in Doctors Surgery’s, refuges, local counselling services and schools. I have for several years worked with children, teenagers, adults, couples and families and in the last few years have qualified as a supervisor.

My Current Counselling Portfolio

I am currently based in a secondary school, primary school and a pupil referral unit, the latter is for students struggling to manage in main stream school. My work in schools is focused mainly with the students, though at times it is necessary to work with the parents/carers and families of the students as well. I have my own private practice, where I see individuals, couples, children, teenagers and families. Along with my work I am actively involved with sharing knowledge and experience with other counsellors and regularly meet with a group of counsellors to discuss varying approaches and strategies. To maintain and enhance my qualifications and accreditations I attend counselling courses covering a variety of therapeutically aspects.
